Since Urban Meyer’s abrupt exit from the Jacksonville Jaguars, folks have been clamoring to hear what it was like to work for Coach Meyer and what his leadership style is like.
After a long wait, here is a glimpse into Coach Meyer’s bookshelf and a list of his literary heroes.

- Pennywise the Clown from Stephen King’s IT. Coach Urban Meyer has never read the book, but he’s seen the 1990 miniseries a few times. He was always impressed by the lasting impact of a high-energy go-getter.
- Ms. Trunchbull from Roald Dahl’s Matilda. Ever since reading the classic children’s story in second grade, Little Urban was impressed with The Trunchbull’s commitment to leadership and discipline. Childhood friends remember the young future coach designing his very own “Chokey”. Imaginative little tyke!
- The Grinch from Dr. Seuss’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas! Coach M remembers reading this story every year around Christmas. He only liked the Grinch from the first half of the book, though, before he “sold out” and joined hands with all the “weenies” who lived below him.
What great insight into Coach Meyer’s leadership style! We can’t wait to see his influence in his new role with The Foundation!
