The New England Patriots announced today that former coach and fossil Bill Belichick is being replaced by the spry Jerod Mayo. And although folks are happy for new Head Coach Mayo, some are wondering how they could have applied for the job.
“Obviously, congrats to Jerod Mayo, I’m excited for him,” said a head coach hopeful. ”But I would have liked to throw my hat in the ring, you know? I was checking LinkedIn and Indeed after the Bill Belichick announcement yesterday, but I never saw a job posting.”
A Human Resources professional expressed concern for the Patriots HR staff. ”Do you think the NFL needs to check in on them? They must have had to work 24 hours straight to sift through resumes, conduct interviews and second-round interviews, and then put offers together. I don’t think I could do it, I’d quit!”
Sources confirmed that the head coach position was never posted on the Patriots LinkedIn page.

Congratulations, Coach Mayo! We can’t wait to see you this fall!
