NBC, the home of the Peacock streaming service, announced today that there will be no commercials during the fourth quarter of Saturday’s game between the Buffalo Bills and the Los Angeles Chargers. Whoa!!!
“We wanted to do something innovative for the holidays,” said an NBC insider. ”All of our Peacock subscribers who tune into the game will be so excited!”

The folks at the NFL and SoFi Stadium, though, are not excited.
“We count on those commercial breaks,” said a SoFi Stadium manager. ”That’s when we do all the shout-outs to local heroes and stuff. You know, firefighters, nurses, kids who won a contest. We bring them out on the field, and everybody claps. It’s undoubtedly the highlight of their years, being on the football field. I guess we have to squeeze them all into the first three quarters? What a logistics nightmare. Thanks a lot, NBC.”
“This is a broadcasting nightmare,” said an NFL big wig. ”There’s not a lot of action going on during the commercial breaks. Just people drinking Gatorade and talking and whatnot. What are our camera operators supposed to show? I guess if there’s a grisly injury or something, we can have them zoom in and check it out.”
Folks at home had mixed feelings. ”When am I supposed to use the bathroom or get another beer?” asked a concerned fan. ”This is a beverage nightmare.”
