Spurs fans were eager to welcome rookies Victor Wembanyama and Sidy Cissoko to San Antonio, Texas. Sources close to the new NBA players report that M. Wembanyama and Mr. Cissoko were touched by the warm San Antonio welcome and are thrilled to get to work with their teammates.

Only one slight snafu: the first impression from the Spurs Coyote mascot.

“I’m not going to lie, the Coyote looks like he’s on something,” said a Spurs human resources associate. “I said we should send someone in a suit from Big Spurs Corporate to meet them at the airport. But the ‘big wigs’ said the Coyote would be more ‘fun’ and help ‘build team comradery’ or some crap. What do I know.”

“That face features prominently in my nightmares,” confessed a current Spurs player who wished to remain anonymous. “Those eyes, man. I hope Victor and Sidy are doing okay.”
